Our Journey Through the Raindrops
Rainette was born from necessity during Mumbai's particularly fierce monsoon season of 2018. Our founder, Aanya Sharma, found herself frustrated by umbrellas that would collapse in strong winds and raincoats that sacrificed style for function.
With a background in textile engineering and a passion for design, Aanya set out to create rain protection that would stand up to India's monsoon season while maintaining an elegant aesthetic. Starting with a small workshop in Mumbai, she assembled a team of artisans and engineers who shared her vision.
The first Rainette umbrella was tested during the 2019 monsoon season, and quickly gained popularity among urban professionals who refused to let rain dictate their style. Today, Rainette has grown into a beloved brand across India, known for combining traditional craftsmanship with innovative technology.
Our name, "Rainette," comes from the French word for "tree frog"—creatures that thrive in rainy environments with their remarkable adaptations. Like our namesake, we've designed our products to not just survive in the rain, but to perform at their best when the skies open up.
"We don't just make umbrellas and raincoats. We craft confidence for rainy days."— Aanya Sharma, Founder
